Our Policies

Lib Dems have ignored Woodham for the past four years;
it’s time to bring back Conservatives who care about our Town.

South Woodham Ferrers Riverside

Since the Lib-Dems assumed the administration of Chelmsford City Council in 2019 we have seen profligate spending on vanity projects; they have largely ignored our Town – with the exception of the disastrous tree planting and ‘re-wilding’ at Creekview Green.

Chelmsford Conservatives propose ten policies to revitalise Chelmsford and restore financial stability:

      1. We will keep Council Tax low
      2. We will get the ‘brown’ land in the City Centre, left empty by the Lib Dems, developed with many new Affordable Homes built.
      3. We will remove the car parking charges, introduced by the Lib Dems at Hylands for Chelmsford and South Woodham Ferrers residents.
      4. We will protect the Green Belt and stop our villages being ruined by unsuitable development.
      5. We will bring new businesses to Chelmsford to provide employment and keep the High Street alive.
      6. We will work with Essex County Council more closely than the Lib Dems have done and get Shire Hall open again.
      7. We will support Chelmsford’s many volunteers and charities
      8. We will work with the increasing number of Police Officers recruited by the Police Commissioner and ensure that residents feel safe on our streets.
      9. We will increase street cleaning and make sure fly-tipping is removed quickly.
      10. We will not waste your money – as the Lib Dems have done – on consultants and strategies which never get implemented.

Additionally, South Woodham Ferrers Conservatives propose a further eight policies for our Town:

      1. We will oppose any proposed developments that are detrimental to our Town.
      2. We will keep our swimming pool open. A Conservative Council built it, and we won’t close it.
      3. We will work with the Police Fire & Crime Commissioner to increase the Police presence in our Town.
      4. We will increase street cleaning in our Town Centre.
      5. We will improve facilities at Saltcoats and Compass Gardens.
      6. We will work with Essex County Council to develop a vision and plan for our Town’s riverside.
      7. We will work to integrate the community centre planned for the development North of the Burnham Road as an asset for the whole Town.
      8. We will work to protect the green infrastructure in our growing Town.

And as for the South Woodham Ferrers Taxpayers Association?

They may claim to be independent, but they consistently vote to support the Lib-Dems
in an attempt to curry favour.
